Bike Path Update

Section of La Conchita Bike Path along U.S. 101 (Ventura Freeway) Closed For Repairs
Crews will restore surface damaged in winter storms

VENTURA COUNTY — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is closing a portion of the La Conchita Bike Path this week for repairs.

Starting Tuesday, Oct. 10, the La Conchita Bike Path will be closed through Friday morning, Oct. 13 from Mussel Shoals to Bates Road.

The two-way bike path, which is along U.S.101 (Ventura Freeway) from Mobil Pier Road to the Ventura/Santa Barbara County line, was damaged during a series of winter storms in February.

During the closure, crews will restore the surface to a 30-foot section of the bike path that washed away, and replace fencing on the northbound side.
Bicyclists should avoid the area during construction.

Signs will be posted warning bicyclists about the closure.

The La Conchita Bike Path work is part of an approximately $3 million dollar emergency project to repair sinkholes, slopes and drainage systems at sections of U.S. 101 and State Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) from Ventura to the Ventura/Santa Barbara Co. line.

Construction vehicles may be in the southbound shoulder of U.S. 101 so drivers are reminded to “Slow for the Cone Zone” and “Be Work Zone Alert.”
